Mirror, mirror upon the wall

A mirror can add the most perfect, finishing touch to a room, just like a piece of artwork can.  On the floor, leaning against something, or hung on a wall, they always seem to find their perfect resting place.  They can be new and glam or old and distressed, yet full of personality and life.  I've just always loved and appreciated a good mirror!

I Dream of Morocco

For me, Morocco has always been and continues to be a designer's smorgasbord full of inspiration!  From their use of vivid colors to their keen sense of detail, their designs simply leave me feeling happy and upbeat.  I hope to visit there someday, take it all in, and actually see with my own eyes what I find to be a constant source of design inspiration.

Rugs I lurve!

Everywhere you look, there seems to be yet another swoon-worthy rug that leaves me drooling.  Too bad I don't have that many rooms in my house.  Rugs are so transitional and can change a space instantly.  Here are a few lovelies I've come across lately...

Introduction

Hello and welcome!  This is officially my intro post on my new and first blog ever, YAY!  I've been wanting to start a blog for a while now and finally got it going.  My first obstacle was coming up with a name.  I pondered for many months and finally while doing some research on the dictionary (yes, I said dictionary), which then lead me to the thesaurus, which is where I ultimately searched the terms "conglomeration" and "mixture".  To get a little boring for the moment, the synonyms came back to exactly how I would describe my design style; assortment, collection, combination, cumulation, mishmash, medley, etc.  I then translated medley into French and wham.... mélange appeared.  And there it was, I loved it and it just seemed to be a perfect fit, so Mélange Designs it was!
Let's back up for a moment...  I am a proud wife, to the most amazing husband ever - so very blessed to have him by my side!  He is the pea to my carrot.  See, when we got married, our design styles seemed to be the polar opposites of each other.  We both have a love for all things old; more specifically, old houses and antiques.  We've filled our old, 1927 Craftsman Bungalow with lots of both old and new.  With a great deal of love, hard work, and dedication, we've combined our styles to make what is now our house of style, that we both love and enjoy!
So, welcome to my blog and enjoy a few pics of my amazing little family!
